Team Bacchetta - 2008 RAAM Crew

2008 RAAM Crew Bio - Eric Johnson

Name:  Eric Johnson

What Bacchetta do you ride/own?  Aero, I believe JS had shown this bike at Interbike before I purchased it.

How many bikes do you own?
Not as many as Christine and Larry.  ;-)   Let’s see, this will be a family total.  Only 10.

Where do you live?
On the Windy High Plains of Northwest Kansas, just outside of Quinter.

Any athletic background?  No, not really….

Favorite or best achievement(s) on the bike or in other sports?
Bike Across Kansas with my family in 05, Tour de Wyoming with my daughter in 07, riding my first ultra race with my daughter at Ultra Midwest last Labor Day.

Any future bike or other sporting goals?
In July I’ll be setting the W-E Illinois cross state recumbent record.  (nothing like a little positive attitude)  Sara Kay and I will be setting the Kansas W-E two person recumbent record this fall.  And the big one on my list.  Getting four girls ready to set the S-N Kansas cross state 4 person recumbent record this Labor Day Weekend.  J

Any Ultra crewing experience?
I was the official on Sara Kay Carrell’s solo recumbent S-N Kansas Record and the crew chief for Sara Kay and Gay Flax’s two person S-N recumbent Kansas Record.  And recently I crewed for JS at Heart of the South this spring.

Why did you accept the crewing position for JS’s Solo RAAM attempt?
How could I pass it up?  What an amazing opportunity to be a part of the first solo recumbent RAAM record in the making.

Anything intimidate you about crewing for JS’s Solo RAAM attempt?
Oh yeah, just about everything.  :-o

If JS screams “MUFFIN!!!” at you at 3 a.m. what would you do?
First, I would quickly queue up the appropriate music for the occasion   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A49PPEk3fYQ  Then lean out the window offering JS our large, deluxe muffin assortment tray that we always keep at the ready.

If you have crewed for or raced with JS before do you have a fun experience that can be shared?!?
Not yet, just get back with me about the middle of June.  ;-)
