Getting more life out of your years: Tour de Longevity

Age and longevity are common themes in our shop. More and more of our riders are getting older (I guess I am too, but that's a different story). We are seeing more riders in our shop in their late 70's, 80's and even early 90's. Most are lifelong cyclists who are looking for a way to stay in shape. Others are relatively new and recognize that cycling is a great way to stay in shape. Both are turning to recumbents for comfort and, in the case of  trikes, for stability.

Blue Zones

According to Tour de Longevity, "As our lifespans increase, individuals and society must prepare for the challenges and opportunities of living longer. Our mission is to raise awareness and provide resources for longevity and healthy aging. We also plan on highlighting the importance of fighting the negative health impacts of loneliness and isolation for people of all generations.

We're embarking on an adventure on trikes to visit various countries around the world, where we will interview the local population to learn more about the different models of longevity.

Our goal is to identify key strategies and recommendations for improving the quality of life for people of all ages as they meet the challenges and opportunities of living longer. From the data we collect, we aim to create a comprehensive roadmap for living longer, which we can all apply in our own lives and share within our communities. This roadmap will be an invaluable resource for individuals, families, and organizations as they plan and prepare for a longer life.

We are intrigued with the five “ BLUE ZONES” around the world where people live significantly longer. Whether it’s for those of us already in our golden years or future generations, we hope we can create a better future by raising awareness, providing resources, and promoting active healthy aging."

Longevity and trike riding around the world

Bill, Carl and Junior are documenting their trike travels around the world and insights into longevity exclusively on their Facebook page. To learn more about their experiences, see what they learn and discover how trikes can help, click on the button below. These trikes, like all HP Velotechnik trikes, are custom built to meet their specific needs.

Their favorite trikes are HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS 26 trikes with electric assist. Full suspension and electric assist give them longevity on the road! Dual batteries provide more than enough energy for the longest days on the road.
