Bacchetta Coppia Tandem is twice the fun!

With the demise of RANS, the recumbent world has few choices when it comes to recumbent tandems. The Azub Twin recumbent tandem is a comfortable, fully-suspended expedition-style bike, perfect for traveling the world. But what about those who want a fast, recreational recumbent tandem for day riding with friends? Choices are non-existent. Enter the Bacchetta Coppia.

The Coppia was designed to meet several design criteria. First, it had to be able to accomodate 26" or 700c wheels front and rear for a comfortable, fast ride. Shown here with 26 x 1.5" tires, the bike will also accept 700c x 40mm tires front and rear.

Second, the captain's seat needed to be low enough for shorter riders to be able to easily access. With a 24" seat height in the forward-most position, this allows even me at 5'9" with short legs to easily ride this bike.

We also wanted to ensure that the stoker seat wasn't too high. Other tandems lift the stoker up and push their crankset under the captain's seat to shorten the bike. We chose to keep the stoker seat low at 21" and the crankset relatively high (14.5") for a sportier, but longer recumbent tandem.
